How to Add a New Product

Ready to grow your TikTok Shop?

This guide will walk you through all the ways to add products to your store—whether you're uploading from scratch, importing via URL, or cloning an existing listing using Quick Listing.
Overview
  1. Add a Product from Scratch – Manual upload: name, images, description, variations, shipping.
  2. Add Products via URL Listing – List from other marketplaces using a product URL.
  3. Use Quick Listing – Clone existing listings to save time.
The Manage Products page is your central hub for listing and managing products. From here, you can search by product name, ID, Seller SKU, category, or price. Further, you can edit, delete, copy, deactivate, and modify the price and stock of individual products or in batches. Products are classified based on their status (active, out of stock, etc.), making it easier for you to organize and track inventory.
Navigate to the Manage Products Page.

Provide Product Information

The process of adding a new product is a four-part process. Below you can find a breakdown of each part.

Part 1. Basic information

In this section, you will enter the general information about your product.

Product Image*

Good product images are essential for attracting customers. Uploading clear and high-quality visuals improves your product’s visibility.
We recommend uploading at least 5 images to showcase your product’s features. Do not upload the same image multiple times.
  • The first image should display a single product (except for product sets).
  • Use a white background, aside from brands and logos, don’t include distracting elements, such as text, icons, borders, color blocks, watermarks, or other shapes.
Product images, videos, and a detailed description are the most direct ways to attract customers.

1.2 Product Name*

The product name should contain more than 25 characters (including spaces) and ideally no more than 80 characters.
  • Tip: Capitalize the first letter of each word (except conjunctions, articles, and prepositions).
  • Title Template: [Product Brand] + [Product Details] + [Application Scope] + [Product Type] + [Main Features/Functions/Advantages]
Excellent Example: XXX (Brand) Velvet Lipstick 6Pcs Set Long-Lasting Non-Stick Cup Waterproof

1.3 Category* (Required)

The system will automatically suggest a category based on your product name. If there is a better fit, you can manually select a different category.

1.4 Brand* (Required for Branded Products)

If your product is branded, you will need to upload related certificates as proof that you or your corporation is the Trademark Owner, a 1st Level Authorized Seller (authorized distributor), or a 2nd Level Authorized Seller (appointed reseller).
  • If you have submitted brand qualifications, “Authorized” will display under the brand name, and buyers will see the brand on the product details page.
  • If qualificiation is not submitted, “Unauthorized” will appear, and the brand will not show to customers.

1.5 Product Attributes*

Enter product attributes to give customers a clear understanding of what they are purchasing. The product attribute fields will be generated based on your previous input to support you in providing the right information to customers.

Part 2: Product Details

Product Description*

Provide added information on your product. To get started, you can use the AI-generated description. Simply insert keywords that describe your product and let the system generate a text for you. You can edit the generated text to align with your product's unique selling points or write a completely new description from scratch.
To enhance readability, organize your selling points into separate paragraphs and include auxiliary images where possible. Be concise and avoid repeating information, keeping descriptions under 500 characters.

Product Specific Details

You may be asked to provide additional information for specific product categories. For example, for clothing or size-sensitive items, providing accurate sizing information will help customers navigate your product confidently.

Video

You can also showcase your product’s features in action with a video. Upload a high-quality video from your local files to give customers a better understanding of the product’s functionality and benefits.

Part 3: Sales Information

This section allows you to configure the product options available to the customer. By default, there is a single SKU, but you can enable up to 300 distinct product variations.

Variation*

You can set up 3 sales attributes by activating the Enable Variations toggle. Upload a unique image for the first variation. Different sales attributes should have different images.
  • Tip: For fashion products, consider attributes like Color and Size, and use different images for each option.

SKU List*

After configuring the variations, an SKU list will be generated. For each SKU, input the Price and Quantity available. You may also choose to enter a Seller SKU (optional).
  • Tip: You can use Batch Edit to adjust prices and stock for multiple SKUs at once.

Product Purchase Limitation

The Product Purchase Limitation feature allows allowlisted local-to-local sellers in the UK and EU to set quantity limits per SKU. This helps manage inventory, reduce fraud, and protect campaign performance.
Who can use this feature? This feature is available to a limited group of sellers. To check whether you’re eligible to get access, please reach out to your Account Manager.
What can be configured? You can set two types of quantity limits at the SKU level:
Limit Type
Description
Range
Maximum per orderMaximum quantity a customer can buy per SKU in one order1–20
Cumulative per userMaximum total quantity a customer can buy per SKU over time1–100
Note: If a product has multiple SKUs, limits apply per SKU. E.g. If max per SKU = 2 and there are 5 SKUs, a customer can buy up to 10 items in one order.
What products are excluded? This feature is not supported by the following product types:
  • Gifts
  • Virtual bundles
  • Bundled products
  • Flash sale items
  • Pre-orders
  • Not-for-sale items
Campaign-specific limits can still be added separately.

  2. Scroll to the Sales Information section
  3. If you're allowlisted, toggle on Customer Purchase Limits
  4. Enter your desired quantity limits (within the allowed range)
  5. Submit to apply
B) For existing listings:
  • Edit the listing and set the limits as above; changes take effect immediately.
C) For Excel uploads:
  • To set maximum and cumulative limits, publish the product first, then configure limits through editing.

Part 4: Shipping*

This section estimates the cost of shipping to a customer.
  • Weight with Package: Enter the total package weight, which includes the product itself and any additional packaging materials (e.g., box, bubble wrap, or wood). The allowed package weight must be between 1 and 220 pounds.
  • Product Dimensions: Provide the dimensions of your package (height, width, and length) in centimeters. Accurate dimensions help calculate the estimated shipping fees. The allowed parcel weight is from 1 to 220 pounds.

Save as Draft or Publish Product

After filling in all the necessary details, you have two options:
  • Save as Draft: Saves the product information without submitting it for review. You can come back and edit the product later.
  • Publish: Submits the product for review and approval, after which it will be listed in your shop.

FAQ

  1. What if I want to clone a product like "Nike" but don’t have brand authorization?
If you lack brand authorization for the target product, you cannot clone its information. To proceed, apply for brand authorization. Refer to the guide: Your Guide to Brand Authorization.
  1. Why can’t I find the product I want to clone?
If the product belongs to an “invite-only” category, the system filters out items from categories you don’t have access to. To resolve this, you need to apply for category permissions. For detailed instructions on how to apply, refer to TikTok Shop Restricted and Unsupported Products Guidelines.
