TikTok Shop UK Customer Order Shipping Policy

1. Overview

2. Definitions

  • Defined terms in this Policy have the following meaning:
  • Carrier refers to a logistics service provider.
  • Dangerous Goods refer to goods that can be dangerous when transported and are therefore subject to regulatory requirements. Dangerous Goods include, but are not limited to, products which are explosive, flammable or toxic. Dangerous Goods can often still be shipped despite being considered dangerous, but only in limited amounts or in specific packaging that reduces the risk of damage being caused.
  • Default Shipping Type refers to the Shipping Type that will automatically be offered to a TikTok Shop customer if the Seller does not make an alternative selection.
  • Local to Local refers to a Package being shipped from and delivered to the customer within the UK.
  • Package refers to the parcel containing a customer's TikTok Shop order.
  • Sell to UK refers to a Package being shipped from an EU country to the United Kingdom (e.g. from Spain to the United Kingdom). This is only available for eligible Sellers. For more information about Sell to UK, please see here.
  • Seller refers to a third-party trader on TikTok Shop.
  • Shipping Type refers to the method by which a TikTok Shop order is delivered to a TikTok Shop customer.
  • Shop refers to a TikTok Shop Seller account.
  • Working Day refers to any day from Monday to Friday, excluding national public holidays in the customer's country.
  • The Valid Tracking Rate (VTR) is the percentage of all Packages that are "Shipped by Seller" using a tracked shipping method by approved couriers.The assessment period used to calculate VTR can be found in Valid Tracking Rate (VTR)
  • The Late Dispatch Rate (LDR) is the percentage of all packages over a period of 7 calendar days that take more than 2 working days to be updated to "Shipped" status in the Seller Center after the order placement. This is only applicable for shipping type "Ship by TikTok" and only applies to Sell to UK Sellers.
  • The Seller Fault Cancellation Rate (SFCR) is the percentage of all orders cancelled by the seller prior to the orders being Shipped (e.g. Out of Stock etc). The SFCR is calculated on a weekly basis.
  • The On Time Delivery Rate (OTDR) is the percentage of all packages (over a period of 7 calendar days) that are delivered within the delivery timeframes set out in section 5 of this Policy. OTDR is calculated at the Seller account level from the preceding 7 days and is updated every Monday on a weekly basis. For example, if a seller has five shops in the UK, the OTDR reflects the delivery percentage of all the packages delivered in the preceding 7 days across the 5 shops in the UK.
  • Balance refers to any monies due, or that may become due, to the Seller in connection with their TikTok Shop Account (including but not limited to TikTik Shop sales proceeds).
  • Late Delivery Fee refers to the fixed fee that TikTok Shop charges a seller whose delivery performance consistently falls below the delivery timeframes set out in section 5 of this Policy. A late delivery triggering Late Delivery Fee(s) occurs when an order is delivered after the applicable delivery timeframes set out in our Guidance: dispatch and deliver on time to avoid fund freeze and late delivery fees article. TikTok Shop will determine Late Delivery Fee eligibility based on the Seller's OTDR or (for Sell to UK Sellers) LDR , calculated as described in this Policy. Certain orders will be exempt from Late Delivery Fee(s), as set out in our Guidance: dispatch and deliver on time to avoid fund freeze and late delivery fees article.

3. Shipping Types

  • Sellers may ship products sold on TikTok Shop via the following Shipping Types:
  • Ship by TikTok: when available, sellers may use logistics services made available by TikTok Shop to fulfil orders. TikTok Shop organises shipments of the TikTok Shop order using third-party carriers.
  • Ship by Seller: the Seller chooses a Carrier (that is TikTok Shop-approved Carrier in the Seller's country, as listed in Section 3.1 of this Policy) to fulfil the TikTok Shop order. TikTok Shop in that instance, will have no commercial or legal relationship with the Carrier. The Seller is solely responsible for all delivery costs and payments due to the relevant Carrier when using the Ship by Seller Shipping Type.

  • If the order is not confirmed, packed and/or a shipping label has not been created within the Agreed Timeframe (as set out in the table above), Customers will have an extended period of time to cancel the order until the Seller Center Order Status has been updated to Awaiting Collection or Awaiting Shipment. Please see the TikTok Shop UK Customer Order Cancellation, Return and Refund Policy for more information.

5.3 Pack the Order

  • The Seller must pack the Package within two working days from receipt of the order.
  • The Seller must pack the Package in a manner that minimises the risk of damage during shipping and ensures compliance with the TikTok Shop UK Seller Terms of Service, the TikTok Shop UK Policies, and applicable laws and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Complying with the Carriers' latest terms, conditions, and policies and any special requirements imposed by the Carrier, which can be found in the Seller Academy;
    • Not enclosing any messages soliciting positive customer reviews or indicating that customers may initiate returns in exchange for other benefits;
    • Ensuring that no unsolicited marketing or promotional materials are included with the Package;
    • Ensuring that the Package does not contain products that the customer did not order; and
    • Before shipping any products that require special handling, Sellers must review the Carrier's applicable terms and conditions, to confirm whether the Carrier can ship the goods. A link to the Carriers terms and conditions can be found in the Seller Academy.

5.4 Create and Affix a Shipping Label

  • The Seller must create and affix a shipping label to the Package within two working days from receipt of the order.
  • The Seller must securely affix a shipping label to the Package. The shipping label must include the following information, as well as any other information required by applicable law:
    • The customer’s name;
    • The customer's full postal address (including zip/postcode); and
    • The Seller’s full name and address.
  • Shipping labels must meet all of the following requirements:
    • A shipping label must not include Seller contact information, other than the Seller's contact details as included on the Seller's TikTok Shop; and
    • A shipping label must not cover or remove other barcodes to render them unscannable.
  • Each Package must have the correct label attached to it. Carriers may dispose of mislabelled Packages or re-label the Package at the Seller's expense.
  • Sellers are not responsible for the accuracy of delivery information that has been provided by the customer. If any issue arises in relation to delivery of the product due to incorrect or incomplete information provided by the customer, the customer may bear any additional delivery cost, where agreed with the customer.
  • The Seller may liaise with the customer to obtain the correct information and aid in delivery to the correct address and, if required, raise tickets to TikTok Shop's Customer Service in the Seller Center for assistance in resolving these issues.

5.5 Adding and Verifying Packing Information

  • For Shipping Type Ship by Seller, Sellers bear the responsibility of using only approved Carriers and providing accurate tracking information. In instances where the Carrier, or partner Carrier, fails to deliver timely and/or to provide accurate information regarding the Package's actual status and tracking information, these gaps will be regarded as a Seller failure to adhere to the dispatch SLAs and will negatively impact Valid Tracking Rate set out in this Policy.
  • Repeated failures to provide accurate tracking information (intentional or otherwise) may result in temporary restrictions for Sellers in addition to order cancellations by TikTok Shop. We may place platform restrictions, such as Order Volume Limits (OVLs), on shops with low Valid Tracking Rate.
  • For the Shipping Type Ship by TikTok, Sellers do not have to add the tracking information for each Package and will not have any Valid Tracking Rate penalties.

5.6 Hand Package to the Carrier

  • When handing over a Package to a Carrier, the Seller is responsible for:
    • Ensuring the Package is either:
      • available for pick up at the time and location agreed with the Carrier; or
      • delivered to the Carrier, drop-off parcel shop or sorting hub belonging to the Carrier.
    • Ensuring the product and its packaging are intact before the Package is dispatched. TikTok Shop recommends that Sellers take photos of Packages before dispatch for record-keeping purposes or in case of any future dispute.
    • For Shipping Type Ship by TikTok, Sellers must ensure all packages are handed over to the Carrier within 2 Working Days from the customer placing the order. If a Seller does not adhere to this timeframe and the delivery timeframes set out in section 5 of this Policy, this will affect the Seller's OTDR. In accordance with our TikTok Shop UK Seller Performance Evaluation Policy, we may place platform restrictions, such as order volume limits, on shops with a low OTDR
    • Ensuring that the order status is up to date.

5.6.1 Handover Process Differences between Shipping Types

  • Please take note of the following process differences between Ship by Seller and Ship by TikTok.

5.6.1.1

Ship by Seller
Fulfilment StageSeller Action(s) and Timelines
  1. Order placement
  • Order is placed by the customer.
  • Once an order is placed by the customer, Sellers must pack and label the product(s) in accordance with the guidelines and print the label and update the order status to "To Ship - Awaiting Collection" in the Seller Center ➔ Manage Orders Tab ➔ To Ship Tab by adding valid Package tracking ID in Seller Center - Order Details. The action of entering the tracking number will result in the Package being marked as "To Ship - Awaiting Collection".
  1. Status monitoring of Package handover
  • Seller hands over the Package to approved shipping carrier
  • Seller hands over the Package to approved Carrier partner
  • If Sellers realise that the tracking information was entered incorrectly, Sellers will have a 36-hour window to edit the tracking information after the tracking information has been submitted.
  • Note: When using Royal Mail - 24®tracked /48® tracked, the tracking ID is located above the 2D barcode on the label.
  1. Package is shipped to the customer
  • After the Packages are collected, the chosen Carrier will then scan the parcel and update the order status to "Shipped" in the system. This "Shipped" status will also be reflected in the Seller Center ➔ Manage Orders Tab.
  • Note: Sellers should check to ensure that Package status is updated to "shipped".
  1. Package is delivered to the customer
  • All orders must be "Delivered" within 4 Working Days from the date of the Seller's receipt of an order. Failing to meet this deadline will negatively impact your (OTDR or (for Sell to UK Sellers) LDR. TikTok Shop may take enforcement actions under the TikTok Shop UK Seller Performance Evaluation Policy and/or charge Late Delivery Fees in accordance with section 6 of this Policy.

5.6.1.2

Ship by TikTok
  • For the Shipping Type Ship by TikTok, Sellers must comply with the following process:
Fulfilment StageSeller Action(s) and Timelines
  1. Order placement
  • Order is placed by the customer.
  • Once an order is placed by the customer, Sellers must pack and label the product(s) in accordance with the guidelines and print the label. Once the label is printed, the system will update the order status in the Seller Center to "To Ship-Awaiting Collection".
  1. Package handover to platform shipping Carrier
  • The Seller has packed the product and the Package is "Ready to Handover" (ie ready to be handed over to the Carrier).
  • Sellers can start the handover process by heading to their Seller Center > Manage Orders > Shipping Labels > Manage Manifests and changing the order status to from Ready to Ship (RTS) to "Ready to Handover" (RTH).
  • Once the order status is at "Ready to Handover"
  • Under Pick Up option, the platform shipping Carrier will be notified to collect your parcel(s).
  • Under Drop off option, Sellers will be required to proceed with the drop off at designated Carrier locations.
  1. Status monitoring of Package handover
  • After the Seller hands over the Package to TikTok Shop's platform shipping Carrier or drops off the Package at the assigned drop off point, the Seller can monitor the Package's handover progress via the "Handover Manifest" page in their Seller Center.
  • Sellers can monitor their daily handover manifest by accessing the Seller Center > Manage Orders > Shipping Labels > Manage Manifests
  • Sellers who experience issues during the Package handover are encouraged to submit an 'Issue ticket' within 24 hours after the daily manifest is created.
  1. Package is shipped to the customer
  2. After Package collection by platform shipping Carrier, TikTok Shop will update the order to "Shipped" in the system.
  • After the Packages are collected from Seller or drop off point, the platform shipping Carrier will scan the parcel (either a sortation or dispatch scan).
  • Once scanned by the logistics service provider, TikTok Shop will then update the order status to "Shipped" in the Seller Center.
  • The "Shipped" status will be reflected in Seller Center → Manage Orders panel.
  • Note: Sellers should check to ensure that Package status is updated to "shipped". If the delivery timeframes set out in section 5 of this Policy are not met, TikTok Shop will review TTS or Shipped issue tickets (along with evidence provided) to determine if a Seller's OTDR should be amended to account for issues related to the scan by the logistics service provider. Details of the impact of a seller having a high Late Dispatch Rate and how to avoid doing so can be found here.
  • For Ship by TikTok, the Carrier and fulfilment model (e.g. Packages to be collected by the Carrier or dropped off at a drop point by the Seller) will be assigned to the Seller by TikTok Shop in the Seller Center under Shipping Settings. The allocation will be based on TikTok Shop's assessment of the optimal choice for the Seller's individual operations (e.g. based on daily Package volume, region etc).

5.7 Monitor Package Progress until Delivery

5.7.1 Final Order Status

  • If a Seller uses the Ship by Seller Shipping Type, TikTok Shop may use logistics data provided by a third-party Carrier to check and verify the order status.
  • If a Seller uses the Ship by TikTok Shipping Type, the Carrier will update the Seller Center order status to "Delivered" after obtaining the recipient's signature or other acknowledgement of receipt.

  • If a Package becomes lost or if it becomes damaged during the packaging or shipping process, or if its shipping is delayed, TikTok Shop will notify the customer and grant them the option to cancel the order and get a full refund or, if possible, to receive a new product at no additional cost.
  • For packages damaged in the logistics process, please see the TikTok Shop UK Customer Order Cancellation, Return and Refund Policy.

5.8 Order Delay and Cancellation

  • In case of orders with the status "Awaiting Shipment" or "Awaiting Collection" that have no tracking details allocated to them after 7 Working Days from when the order was placed, customers will be notified of the delay by TikTok Shop and will be granted the option to either cancel the order and get a full refund, or wait for the order to be delivered.
  • Sellers will receive a daily reminder to update the status of pending orders before the above-mentioned notification is sent to customers. Please click here to find out more.
  • For both Shipping Type, Ship by Seller and Ship by TikTok, any order cancellation initiated by Seller may affect their Seller Fault Cancellation Rate and, in accordance with our TikTok Shop UK Seller Performance Evaluation Policy, we may take enforcement actions, including but not limited to warnings and product deactivation, against Sellers with a high Seller Fault Cancellation Rate.

6. Prohibited Behaviours

  • TikTok Shop may review and audit the shipment practices of a Seller at any time. Random audits may be performed to identify any shipping practices that violate this Policy.

TikTok Shop will not intervene in the Seller's communications with the Carrier as we have no direct relationship with the Carrier;
    • If the Seller uses the Ship by TikTok Shipping Type, TikTok Shop will request that the Carrier provides any necessary supporting materials for us to investigate the matter. The Seller can also raise a ticket in the Seller Center;
    • If Sellers show a repeated pattern of the above behaviour that surfaces from customer feedback, a Seller may be subjected to further investigation that would result in potential warnings or deactivation depending on the severity of the feedback and the outcome of the investigation; and

  • Certain orders will be exempt from Late Delivery Fee(s), as set out in XXX
  • The imposition of a Late Delivery Fee does not limit or replace TikTok Shop's right to apply additional alternative measures under the TikTok Shop Seller Performance Evaluation Policy and other TikTok Shop UK Terms and Policies. Any fees or measures may be applied independently or cumulatively at TikTok Shop's discretion.
  • The Seller acknowledges that TikTok Shop may charge Late Delivery Fees regardless of the cause of the delivery delay, including circumstances beyond the Seller's control (e.g., carrier delays). Sellers remain responsible for selecting and managing appropriate logistics services to meet their delivery timeframes.
