This TikTok Shop UK Seller Registration Policy (hereafter referred to as "this Policy") lists the requirements that Sellers must meet in order to list products on TikTok Shop.
This Policy applies to Sellers.
All references to TikTok Shop in this Policy are a reference to TikTok Shop UK.
Our TikTok Shop policies are updated periodically. We will generally notify you in advance of any changes to this Policy. Please see the TikTok Shop UK Seller Terms of Service for details of how we may make changes to our terms and policies. Sellers are responsible for checking this page regularly to ensure they comply with our Policy.
Applicant refers to a Corporate Seller or Sole Trader that applies to become a Seller on TikTok Shop.
Sole Trader refers to individuals acting for purposes relating to their trade, business, craft or profession.
Corporate Seller refers to a business legally registered in the country where they are located.
Primary Authorised User refers to a person who has been given the right by a company director or owner of the Seller to register the TikTok Shop Seller account on behalf of the Corporate Seller.
Seller refers to a third-party trader on TikTok Shop.
Shop refers to a TikTok Shop Seller account.
Shop Probation Period refers to a probation period that all new Sellers on TikTok Shop are subject to. Details on the Shop Probation Period can be found in the Understanding The New Shop Probation Periodon the TikTok Shop Seller Academy.
Seller Application and Registration
There are two types of Sellers on TikTok Shop: Sole Traders and Corporate Sellers, as defined above.
All Applicants must register via TikTok Shop to become a Seller before they can list products for sale on TikTok Shop. As part of the registration process, applicants must provide the required information and documents as detailed in section 4 below.
Registration
During the process to register as a Seller, Applicants must provide TikTok Shop with the following accurate, complete and up-to-date information:
Login details: e-mail address and phone number.
For Corporate Sellers: business entity type, whether the company is registered in a trade or public register and if so, the name of the trade or public register and the registration details the company (i.e., registration number or equivalent, or an official copy of the registration reflecting this information), company name, company registration date, phone number, business address, business proof of address, and VAT number.
For Sole Traders: nationality, identity document, letter of authorisation (if applicable), full legal name, date of birth, ID document number, phone number, residential address and residential proof of address.
Business representative: representative type, nationality, identity document, letter of authorisation (if applicable), full legal name, date of birth, ID document number, phone number, residential address and residential proof of address.
Payment details: account holder name, IBAN and Bank/BIC/SWIFT code.
Tax information: tax identification number, financial account identifier and existence of permanent establishments.
Shipping information: warehouse address and proof of address.
Certification that the Applicant will only offer products that comply with applicable laws and regulations and acknowledgement of full responsibility for ensuring the products offered comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Any other information TikTok Shop may request (for example, information to identify the beneficial owners of the business).
During the application process, TikTok Shop may request supplementary documents from Applicants.
Applicants currently under investigation or subject to enforcement action by any competent authority (including but not limited to a trade or consumer protection authority) are prohibited from registering as a Seller on TikTok Shop until the resolution of the investigation favours the Applicant or the enforcement sanctions placed on the Applicant expire.
Upon successful registration, all Sellers will have to undergo a Shop Probation Period.
Applicant Eligibility
TikTok Shop requires all Applicants to meet eligibility criteria when applying to be a Seller on TikTok Shop.
There are different eligibility criteria for Sole Traders and Corporate Sellers, which are set out below.
All information and documents provided to TikTok Shop by Applicants must be authentic, accurate, complete, and issued by the relevant national authorities.
Eligibility Criteria for Sole Trader Applicants
Sole Trader Applicants must:
Be at least 18 years old.
Possess a valid issued passport, or driver's licence
Provide a domestic address and relevant proof of address.
Ensure that all goods have been imported into the UK in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, including customs laws, and accept liability for any import VAT and customs duties when the goods are first imported into the UK.
Store their inventory in the country of registration, ship all items domestically, accept all returns domestically, and provide supporting evidence of inventory location in the form of an address or lease at TikTok Shop's request.
Eligibility Criteria for Corporate Seller Applicants
Corporate Seller Applicants must:
Be a legally-incorporated business in the country where they are registering for TikTok Shop.
Provide a domestic business address in the country where they are registering for TikTok Shop.
Ensure that all goods have been imported into the UK in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, rules and customs laws, and accept liability for any import VAT and customs duties when the goods are first imported into the UK.
Store their inventory in the country of registration, ship all items domestically, accept all returns domestically, and provide supporting evidence in the form of an address or lease at TikTok Shop's request.
Provide a valid passport, driver's licence, for their business representative.
Provide a domestic residential address and corresponding proof of address for their business representative, who is a local resident.
Larger enterprises, as determined by TikTok Shop, may be eligible to provide proof of residency of a business representative outside the UK. This decision will be at TikTok Shop's sole discretion and will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Applicant Verification Requirements
TikTok Shop requires all Applicants to submit required verification documents during the registration process.
There are different verification requirements for Sole Traders and Corporate Sellers, which are set out below.
The verification process may be conducted by a third-party service provider.
All information and documents provided to TikTok Shop by Applicants must be authentic, accurate, complete, and issued by the relevant national authorities.
Registration applications will not be successful if the relevant documents are not provided or if they are invalid.
Verification Requirements for Sole Trader Applicants
Sole Trader Applicants must:
Submit a copy of government-issued identification documents for verification purposes. Please refer to section 4.1.1 for the list of acceptable documents.
Provide a selfie of themselves holding the ID document. These verifications do not involve the use of biometric data processed through specific technical means for the purpose of uniquely identifying individuals.
Provide their residential address and corresponding proof of address. Acceptable documents to confirm proof of address include unredacted financial institution/bank statements or utility bills (dated within the last 3 months).
Verification Requirements for Corporate Sellers Applicants
Corporate Seller Applicants must:
Provide accurate company registration information, as indicated during the verification process, including but not limited to the company name, registration number, and registration address (or an official copy of the registration reflecting this information).
Submit a government-issued identity document (i.e. passport/driver's licence) for the business representative, company director, or person with significant control. Please refer to section 4.1.2 for the list of acceptable documents.
Business representatives handling the registration must meet the criteria outlined in 4.1.2. Acceptable documents to confirm proof of address include financial institution/bank statements or utility bills (dated within the last 3 months).
Business representatives, company directors, or persons with significant control may be required to provide a selfie of themselves holding the ID document. These verifications do not involve the use of biometric data processed through specific technical means for the purpose of uniquely identifying individuals.
Submit a business address and provide corresponding proof of address. Acceptable documents to confirm proof of address include financial institution/bank statements or utility bills (dated within the last 3 months). Address verification may be conducted by a third-party provider.
Larger enterprises can delegate Shop registration to a Primary Authorised User. In that case, a current company director will be required to sign a letter of authorisation.
Identity Document Requirements
All submitted identity documents must meet the requirements below.
Any submitted identity document must be government-issued and recognised by the country where the Sole Trader Applicant or the Corporate Seller Applicant's business representative, company director or person with significant control is a citizen.
General Identity Document Format Requirements
Copies of both front and back panels of identity documents are required.
All copies must be legible.
Document images must be of high quality, in colour and unobstructed. Angled, blurry, black-and-white, or cropped screenshots will not be accepted.
For multi-page files (for example: both sides of a driver's licence), please combine the two-sided pictures into a one-page file.
All documents must be in either png or jpg format. File names should not be a string of text or alphanumeric. File names should be without any special characters (*, \, ?, ]).
All information must be valid, authentic and legal at the time of submission. Applicants must ensure all information provided remains valid and legal over the course of their business on TikTok Shop.
Identity Document Requirements for Sole Trader Applicants
The name on any submitted national identification document (such as a driver's licence) must match the Sole Trader Applicant's name as registered for their TikTok Shop account.
Identity Document Requirements for Corporate Seller Applicants
The business entity name and other names (such as the Shop name or trading name) relevant to the company's licence or registration must be included and legible on any submitted document.
The business representative's name listed on any submitted business licence/company registration(s) must match the name of the business representative as registered by the Corporate Seller Applicant for the TikTok Shop account.
Corporate Seller Applicants must promptly notify TikTok Shop of any expiration, suppression, termination, or any other changes to their company registration or business licence.
Where requested, Corporate Seller Applicants must also provide us with information evidencing the beneficial ownership of the Corporate Seller Applicants, including names and date of birth of directors and those holding (directly or indirectly) 25% or more of the shares or control of the business.
Bank Account Requirements and Payment Provider Eligibility
Bank account information
All Applicants must provide accurate bank account information that meets the requirements below.
Applicants must provide bank details from institutions located in the UK.
Applicants must provide an unredacted copy of the first full page of their bank account statement with accurate bank account information.
The Applicant's bank name and bank account must be accurate and reflected on an authentic source.
For Sole Trader Applicants, the name in which the submitted bank account is registered must be consistent with the name on the identity documents provided upon registration by the Sole Trader Applicant.
For Corporate Seller Applicants, the bank account provided must be a business bank account. The name in which the bank account is registered must also be consistent with the business entity's name as reflected on any submitted information, certificates, or company registrations.
Payment Provider Eligibility
Before an Applicant can register as a TikTok Shop Seller and/or if a Seller wants to continue listing products on TikTok Shop, they must continuously meet the due diligence requirements of the payment provider.
Shop Name Requirements
All Applicants are required to create a Shop name on TikTok Shop that strictly adheres to the requirements below.
Shop names that do not adhere to TikTok Shop's requirements may be rejected at TikTok Shop's sole and absolute discretion.
Registered Sellers may change their Shop name once every 30 calendar days but cannot change their Shop name during their first 30 calendar days after registration. Policies pertaining to Shop names also extend to any changes made to the Shop name after the initial registration process.
Shop names must:
be presented in the latin script of the relevant marketplace as supported by TikTok.
Shop names must not:
misrepresent the Shop's identity or activities.
contain more than 40 characters.
contain illegal or prohibited references such as banned product names or discriminatory language.
contain any political references.
contain any hate speech or content that attacks or incites violence against an individual or a group of individuals.
contain sexually suggestive or explicit references.
any abusive content. This includes but is not limited to violent threats, sexual harassment, offensive language, swearing or disparaging statements regarding appearance, intellect, personality traits, and hygiene.
include references to "TikTok", "TikTok Shop", "Tik" or "Tok".
include terms related to third-party platforms.
contain any brand name(s) without the brand owner's writtenpermission. Additionally, Shop names must not be misleading or imply a connection to any third-party brand without that brand's consent. If Applicants use the terms "official," "flagship," "authorised," "brand," or similar words as part of their Shop name, they must submit the necessary authorisation from the brand owner. Please note that this requirement is also applicable to all TikTok user profiles.
contain comparisons or exaggerated descriptions such as "better," "the best," "vs.", etc.
use Shop names that are already in use by other Sellers on TikTok Shop. We prohibit misrepresentation of identity and impersonating third parties and third party brands.
contain claims against competitors, including negative and unsubstantiated claims.
contain any external contact information or websites as part of the Shop name, such as phone numbers, social media account information, "http," ".com," etc.
Shop names must not contain a string of text, be solely alphanumeric, or include special characters (*, \, ?, ], etc.). A Shop name that purely consists of numbers is also not allowed.
Shop names must not consist of purely generic or descriptive words or categories that do not represent the business entity clearly, for example "Automotive," "Shop," and "Store".
Shop names must not include environmental claims that cannot be substantiated in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Maintaining Up-to-Date and Accurate Seller Information
All Sellers are required to maintain accurate and up-to-date information.
Sellers must immediately report any changes to their submitted information. New information will be verified according to this Policy. If the information is incorrect or cannot be verified, TikTok Shop may request additional information or take enforcement against the Seller in line with the TikTok Shop UK Seller Performance Evaluation Policy.
TikTok Shop may conduct periodic checks of Seller information. If we obtain sufficient indications or have reason to believe that a Seller's information is incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete or not-up-to-date, they will be notified and will have 2 calendar days to correct and/or complete their information. New information will be verified in accordance with this Policy. If the information is incorrect or cannot be verified, TikTok Shop may request additional information or take enforcement in line with the TikTok Shop UK Seller Performance Evaluation Policy.
Other Required Information
In addition to the information above, TikTok Shop may request additional information according to the specific requirements in the country where the Applicant applies to register their Shop. We encourage Applicants to consult with their legal advisor if they have questions about applicable laws and regulations regarding the disclosure of information.
Further Information
If TikTok Shop requires the collection of any additional information due to new rules or regulations, applicants will be notified and must submit the necessary supplementary documents accordingly.
Audit
TikTok Shop may review an approved seller account and all related documents at any time. If Sellers or Applicants violate this Policy, action may be taken against their account as set out in our TikTok Shop UK Seller Terms of Service.
